Book: I'm Trying to Love Spiders
Snack: Vanilla Wafers and Grapes
Yesterday, we introduced the children to new materials in the block area. A light projector, light tables, and translucent materials were used to explore light and shadow. The light projector projects onto a white wall in the space. Children had the opportunity to play there in the morning and the afternoon. During morning meeting, children shared how they used the materials and ideas of how they could use the materials.
Harlow: We had new things over here. The dominoes went on this (projector) and you could put it on your body (by standing in front of the white wall).
Suzette: You could show everybody what you built here. You could show what they added to it.
Ellie: These I call squigglers. When I put it on here and then you can see it on the wall. You stand in front of it and you can see it on your body.
Brady: You put things on the screen and put your body on the screen. Maybe if you put a color on top of the screen it would switch colors.
Harry: So if you put these on there than they will go up there too.
Birk: If you put this up there a grown up will have to lift you to touch the color (if the color is projected higher on the wall).

Ellie: If you pick this one the swizzler it will go around your arm. Let's put dominoes all over it.
Lucy: Yeah!
Ellie: Some of them are touching!
Mia: They are on top.
Mia: Stop! We can do something different.
Lucy: That's too crazy.
Mia: Too much!
Lucy: We need to clean up all of this.
Ellie: We need some dominoes.
Lucy: More dominoes. More squigglies.
Mia: These change colors too. Blue and red make purple.
Lucy: Perfect!
Harlow: Let's use the dominoes again. Ellie and I did something and we want to show you.
Ellie: At rest?
Harlow: No after.
Harlow: This is what we did. We lined them up and put some on top. And then you finish and stand in front of the screen and you are all polka dotty!
