Snack: Graham Crackers and Oranges
Book: We found our bookmark and read the next chapter from the Harold and The Purple Crayon book. Last time we read about Harold traveling to a castle and helping the King discover a giant in his garden. This time we took a trip on a rocket ship to space!

We have been looking at Dramatic Play in a new way, inspired by our book study The Play's the Thing. We created this documentation to visually represent the process that we have used to guide the children's play. The last few days we have been working with puppets. In today's blog, you will be able to see some examples of this learning experience.
Yesterday, a group of eight children played in the dramatic play area of our classroom. While there, the children took turns being the audience, part of the show, and making movies.
Today, those same children came into the office space to watch some of those movie clips. The first time they watched it without sound and used their imaginations to describe what they noticed.
Sigrid: I think they were talking about what they were going to do.
Brady: They were talking about the story and what they will be.
Izzy: They were trying to figure out what they were going to be.
Ellie: We were making a plan and figuring out what we were going to do.
Katie: So why is a plan important?
Ellie: A plan is important so we don't get lost on what we are trying to do and know what comes next. Lucy rang the bell to let the audience know it was time for the show, when we were finished planning.

The reflection on their play in the movies and their ideas carried over into their play today too. There was planning, more movies made, and playing!
Izzy: What's our plan? Is it to sing?
Zoey: What's our plan?
Izzy: Jingle Bells?
Zoey: Let's do Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
Brady: Santa Claus is coming to town (singing) and yes that's good.
Zoey: We are ready. Let's ring the bell for the audience to come.
