They even decorated the house with some of the ribbons! Once inside,a group wanted to begin in Dramatic Play. They held a "planning meeting" before entering the space to determine the theme of the play and select roles. The Big Sisters were in charge of taking care of the babies. A hammock was built to rock the babies. In the Studio, children worked on individual projects involving clay, paint and collage. Another group worked on building vehicles with Mobilos.

Book: Good News Bad News Snack: Graham Crackers, Pretzel Goldfish, and Apple Squeezes This past Friday, two children were playing fairies in the outdoor classroom. They continued this theme in blocks and constructed homes that reminded them of fairy houses. On Monday, additional children joined the play and it became a fairy land. They incorporated their super hero characters from dramatic play (on small blocks) and drew wings to transform them for fairy land. A story developed yesterday as the children played in the block area. Today children discussed what is happening in blocks. Suzette: We're making a fairy house and we drew things on our people. Eloise: We drew wings because we were pretending we were fairies. Lily: We're pretending it's a story called Candy. Mia: We're building many houses. Carly: We are making pictures with special markers you can't wipe off. Lucy: We live in Cotton Candy World. Camera Katie worked with Sigrid, Lucy, and Suzette to bring their story to life on the SmartBoard today. They selected images for their story, used actual images from the block area, and transformed their pictures from the block area for their movie. Today, Harlow and Mia continued to add more details to Fairy Land. They connected each fairy house with steps, so the fairies could walk to each house. They also created a disco ball for dance parties in one of the fairy's houses.
Snack: Apple sauce, Go-gurts and Strawberries Book: Beyond the Pond Carly’s Outer Space Book Carly shared a book that she made in the message center today. She read her book out loud to a teacher. Carly said: It’s an outer space book! Right here, it says this is outer space. That’s on the first page: it’s a picture of outer space. This is the second page. It’s skipping a page. After that,is the next one. and the last page is the end. Oh, yea, (pointing to a drawing) it’s just the little baby world. Now, I have to write my name. (While gluing a copied image), I’m in the outer space now! On this page, the rocket ship takes off from here! (She said, as she showed, with her hand, how the rocket ship lifted off the page and moved several feet away.) Zoe’s Love Book
Zoe excitedly shared the title of her book, I Love you, Mommy! She went on to explain that the author’s name was Zoe and then she told the story and read her book. Zoe said: This is the tiger who runned after the bear! Next it says the bear walked to his mommy. Then the big sister said, “I saw a tiger running after me!" They kept running until there was a cage. Then they locked themselves in a the cage and the tiger could never chase them again. The mom had a key. She locked their selves in the cage and the mom was with them. Then they played in the cage. They said, “I love you, Mom!” The other children said, “We love you MORE!” Snack: Strawberries and Goldfish Book: The Magic Hat In the studio, children are continuing to build with recycled materials. Often, children build on their previous work or bring recycled materials from home with an idea in mind. This week, children first painted and decided to collage on top of their paintings. Lily brought milkweed seeds to plant in our garden. Children planted them today in our outdoor classroom and then created signs on the sidewalk for them! Thank you Lily for sharing the seeds with our class.
